The Young Explorer’s package
is a specially designed safari offering families the opportunity to discover
the wonders of the African wilderness together. One of the special attractions
of this Ker &Downey program is it exclusivity. Each family has the use of a
private six-bedded camp, two professional guides, personal chef, waiter,
housekeeper and mokoro guides. We are quite literally there to explore the bush
at our leisure, while never losing sight of the fact that being in the
wilderness is also about having fun!
Accommodation
Young
Explorers Okavango family adventure is based at the Footsteps Across the Delta camp,
which is a comfortable private camp accommodating six guests in three specially
designed twin bedded, insect proof tents with sewn-in floors. Each tent has its
own bucket shower and bush toilet, and even a daily laundry service. The ‘bush
kitchen’ run by our chef, prepares menus to whet all appetites.
Activities
Young Explorers emphasis is on learning how
to track game both on foot and in 4x4 safari vehicles, together with how to
make small animal traps and how to start a fire from nothing more than two
sticks. The children learn how to
recognize different animal spoor as well as bird identification. They’ll also try their hand at poling a
mokoro, driving a game drive vehicle, fishing and shooting an air rifle at tin
cans. On completion children receive a
Young Explorers certificate and t-shirt or cap.
