Robben
Island

Watchtower
|
This island is situated in Table Bay where political prisoners were
incarcerated, the most famous being Nelson Mandela. A boat leaves Cape
Town harbour at predetermined times and takes visitors to the island.
A previous inmate of the prison takes tourisits on a guided tour and
gives insight into the daily life in the prison. The Nelson
Mandela
cell is one of the stopping places and one cannot but help to feel a
twinge of sympathy for the greatest leader of Africa. |
