A wide
variety of tours are availabe in Cape Town and
Surrounds (see side bar) but this tour will focus on the Architectural
heritage and naturally will have to interlace some of the history of
the Cape into it. Some of the highlightsare listed below.

| Castle of Good Hope |
The building was built
as a defense against British colonialist expansion by the Dutch and is
shaped like a five-pointed star, enabling defense visibility through
360 degrees. It has five
bastions with the titles of the Catzenellenbogen, Prince of
Oranje, Leerdam, Nassau and Buren. The bastions housed the military,
provided storerooms, prisoners' cells and torture chambers.

|
 Scene
of many military parades in bygone days, the Grand Parade in
front of the City Hall has become the venue for
street
vendors selling their wares on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The tour will
include visits to the following :
- Company Gardens and South African Parliamentary
buildings.
- "Bo-Kaap" where Cape Malay families live.
- Oldest Synagogue in South Africa.
- Long street with it's restored Victorian
buildings and old commercial buildings.
